JSS Peer Review Process
Initial Assessment
Editors review all submissions for scientific soundness, originality, and relevance to the JSS mission.
External Peer Review
Papers selected for review are evaluated by at least three independent experts chosen for subject-matter knowledge and impartiality.
Decision & Revision
Authors receive reviewer feedback and may be asked to revise their work. Outcomes include acceptance, revision, rejection, or transfer to another JSS journal.
Resources
The JSS offers free reviewer training through the JSS Reviewer Lab, covering peer review practices and research ethics.
